Learn more about this new law requiring home improvement contractors to register with the state.

Here are a few basic facts...

• Contractors must be registered before July 1, 2009
• Registration fee is $50 & is valid for two years
• Any contractor doing more than $5,000 in business annually must register
• Builders who only build new homes are exempt
• Contractors must carry at least $50,000 worth of both personal injury liability insurance and property damage insurance
